In a letter to Ron Wyden (D-OR), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, NAUH expresses its support for a bill to repeal the Medicare sustainable growth rate formula (SGR) used to pay physicians. NAUH also endorses using proceeds from the federal Overseas Contingency Operations fund to pay for the SGR repeal.
NAUH asks members of the House of Representatives to co-sponsor H.R. 4188, the Establishing Beneficiary Equity in the Hospital Readmissions Program Act. The bill proposes adding a risk adjustment element to Medicare’s hospital readmissions reduction program.
In a letter to the bill’s sponsor, James Renacci (R-Ohio), NAUH conveys its support for legislation that proposes adding a risk adjustment component to Medicare’s hospital readmissions reduction program.
With the Senate Finance Committee looking for ways to pay for a permanent solution to the Medicare sustainable growth rate formula (SGR) challenge, NAUH asks the committee’s members to reject any proposal to pay for that solution with further cuts in Medicare and Medicaid payments to urban safety-net hospitals.
With the Senate considering extending Medicare sequestration cuts for an additional year to pay for an extension of emergency unemployment compensation benefits, NAUH asks senators to reject the use of further Medicare cuts to pay for additional federal spending of any kind.
