CBO Puts Price Tag on Medicare “Doc Fix”

With Medicare payments to doctors scheduled to fall 27 percent on January 1, 2013, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has put a price tag on preventing that cut and keeping physician payments at their current level:  $18.5 billion over 10 years to keep payments at their current level for 2013 alone and $48 billion in cuts to leave them untouched for both 2013 and 2014.
