Illinois Governor to Propose Major Medicaid Cuts

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn plans to propose reducing his state’s Medicaid spending by $2.7 billion.  His proposal calls for $2 billion in spending cuts, including $675 million in payment cuts to providers.

Other cuts include changes in eligibility, reduced benefits, additional cost-sharing for beneficiaries, and greater use of managed care for dual eligibles.
