Innovation and Reform Well Under Way

While parts of the Affordable Care Act still have not been implemented, it appears that health care reform is well under way.

In an overview of reform efforts that have already begun, a Commonwealth Fund-supported supplement to the Columbia Journalism Review looks at health care reform and innovation from the perspective of government, providers, insurers, and employers.  According to the report, all of these groups are involved in reshaping the American health care system.  The manner in which many of these innovations – Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), medical homes, Medicare bundled payments, chronic disease management, greater use of health information technology, value-based purchasing, and others – are implemented will have a significant impact on NAUH and urban safety-net hospitals throughout the country.
