MACPAC Reports to Congress

MACPAC has urged Medicaid to do a better job of coordinating care for patients with disabilities and a better job of assessing the quality of that care.

The agency – created by the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 and formally known as the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission, also offered several recommendations designed to combat fraud and abuse while freeing states from unnecessary regulatory burdens.

With their especially large numbers of Medicaid patients, urban safety-net hospitals are especially affected by Medicaid policy and, potentially, by MACPAC’s recommendations.

The recommendations are part of MACPAC’s March report to Congress.
