NAUH Seeks House Help With Conference Committee
NAUH continues its efforts to urge Congress not to reduce Medicare and Medicaid payments to urban safety-net hospitals.
In its latest move, NAUH has asked members of the House to sign onto a letter sponsored by Representatives Marcia Fudge (D-OH) and Judy Chu (D-CA) urging the payroll tax conference committee not to pay for any of its tax provisions, or its extension of relief from the Medicare sustainable growth formula (SGR – the so-called Medicare doc fix), by proposing cuts in Medicare or Medicaid that would reduce payments to urban safety-net hospitals.
This issue is so important to NAUH and urban safety-net hospitals that the association is taking the extra step of reaching out for help to every private, non-profit urban safety-net hospital in the country, not just NAUH members.
