Issue Brief Explores Community Partnerships

A growing confluence of factors is pushing hospitals and other health care providers to work more collaboratively with government, community groups, and others in pursuit of improving the health status of communities.

The Affordable Care Act, for example, requires non-profit hospitals to perform community health needs assessments and to develop strategies for addressing the needs they identify.  It is widely thought that they will need to work with other stakeholders to implement such strategies.

A new issue brief entitled “Hospital Community Benefits After the ACA:  Partnerships for Community Health Improvement,” which was prepared by the Hilltop Institute and underwritten by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, looks at some of the partnerships that have emerged in the past and describes how hospitals have worked with others to improve their communities’ health.  Read more about the report and download it hereHandshake.
